ATP Miami: Jannik Sinner wins first final ticket with victory over Roberto Bautista Agut

Jannik Sinner is in the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami after a three-set win over Roberto Bautista Agut. The South Tyrolean defeated the Spaniard in the semifinals 5: 7, 6: 4 and 6: 4.

There is a 13 year age difference between Roberto Bautista Agut and Jannik Sinner , but you shouldn't notice that in the first semifinals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami. After a break for both players, after ten games in set one, overtime went into overtime.

And just at the score of 5: 5 it was the experience that should make the difference: veteran Bautista Agut kept the ball in play with good length, youngster Sinner, on the other hand, risked too much and gave the Spaniard the break with a few slight mistakes. A few minutes later, the 32-year-old served to win the set.

Sinner proves strong nerves

The second round started again evenly, but in the seventh game Bautista Agut found four break opportunities to finally turn onto the winning road. However, Sinner played four great points and was still 4: 3 thanks to his backhand. In the following game, the 19-year-old missed a break chance, but two games later he made it better and won set number two 6: 4.

As in the opening sentence, it was Bautista Agut again in the third section who managed the first break. But Sinner struck back and took the serve from the Iberian to 3: 3. The world number 31. then took the momentum with it, struck at the best moment and broke out to win the match.

Due to the 5: 7, 6: 4 and 6: 4 success, Sinner is in the final of an ATP Masters 1000 event for the first time in his career. In this he meets Andrey Rublev or Hubert Hurkacz on Sunday.
