But Thiem was now better in the game and consequently went 3-1 in the lead. But Lajovic was not stuck, managed to equalize 3: 3 and then used two bad decisions by the Austrian for another break and the 4: 3 lead.

In the competitive Lajovic service game, Thiem then came to a 0:40, but Lajovic still made it 5: 3 and managed to break again to deserve the match.
