In the fall, it looked like Grigor Dimitrov could continue his glory days that culminated in 2017 in winning the ATP World Cup in London. Dimitrov managed to defeat Roger Federer for the first time at the US Open 2019, the end was only in the semi-final against Daniil Medvedev. At the Australian Open, however, the early exit against Tommy Paul came from the USA.
And at the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Montpellier, the Bulgarian made a bad start: Dimitrov lost to Gregoire Barrere 7: 6 (4), 4: 6 and 5: 7. The favorite made another rebreak to 5: 5 in the third set - but had to give up again immediately. After 2:33 hours of play Barrere used his third match ball.
Another young Frenchman, on the other hand, had to cut sail against a prominent name in the afternoon: Ugo Humbert had no chance against Feliciano Lopez in 4-6 and 1-6. With Richard Gasquet, an experienced local hero reached the second round. And it is there that she deals with Lopez.
