ATP Montreal: Rafael Nadal turns match against Fognini
Rafael Nadal , second in the world rankings, played in the semi-finals of the Montreal Masters tournament with a three-set victory over Fabio Fognini.

Nadal beat the Italian after a false start with 2: 6, 6: 1, 6: 2 and thus reached the semifinals. However, his opponent has not yet been determined: the match between Roberto Bautista Agut and Gael Monfils had to be postponed to Saturday due to rain.
Nadal had the first breakpoint of the game, but then only Fognini played, who quickly took the lead with a double break and 5: 1. Then Nadal increased, in sets two and three he made early breaks and played the match against Fognini, who was ankle-struck, from the start. Even if the ball change of the match went to the Italian again.
Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev had previously lost their quarter-finals and missed a clash.
On Saturday, the postponed quarter-final between Monfils and Bautista Agut is on the program from 7 p.m. CEST, from 9 p.m. the first semi-final between Karen Khachanov and Daniil Medvedev. Rafael Nadal will start at 2 a.m.
