In addition to Indian Wells and Miami, there will soon be five more 12-day ATP Masters 1000 tournaments.

So far, in addition to the four Grand Slam tournaments, there have only been the two renowned ATP Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami, the main rounds of which are not played within a week. In both California and Florida, the 128-strong field of participants will be reduced to a final duel between two opponents within 12 days.

Prize money increase is also planned

The ATP board now wants to implement a new plan that provides for the Masters 1000 events in Rome, Madrid, Montreal / Canada, Cincinnati and Shanghai to be aligned with this implementation model. This goes hand in hand with the consistent expansion of the field of participants from 64 to 128 players.

According to the Tennis.com platform, ATP World Tour 250 events can take place in the second weeks of these tournaments, which can also receive a subsidy from the ATP Tour, which is obtained through additional fees for the Masters tournaments. The prize money for the 1000 events is also to be increased, and it is also planned that the players will share in the profits of the tournaments.
