Yes, the spectators were sorely missed at the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Munich. Otherwise, the event was again a pleasure for the players and everyone involved in the action.

And so Nikoloz Basilashvili won his second tournament victory of the year in Munich. The circumstances were not quite as spectacular as in Title one in Doha - finally had Basilashvili there on the way to the winner's trophy Roger Federer out of the way, the Georgians showed up after his triumph at the MTTC Iphitus yet extremely satisfied. He will have the winning car shipped to Georgia. And yes, he would be a little sorry for his final opponent Jan-Lennard Struff that he was not allowed to leave the facility in a new BMW.

Struff can also count himself among the winners of the week. Finally it worked with the first final on the ATP tour, on the way there the game against Filip Krajinovic in the quarterfinals was the sticking point. Struff has always remained aggressive, the conditions in the endgame have more suited his opponent than the Warsteiner. Of course, it was not Struff's time to congratulate Basilashvili on his fifth tournament victory.

Zverev was able to concentrate on the sport

It was not for Alexander Zverev with the third title in Munich. The quarter-final defeat against Ilya Ivashka was avoidable, when analyzing the game, the German number one will not only stumble over 14 double mistakes, but also over the fact that he once again played too passively in the decisive phases. In the first set it went well for Zverev in the tie-break, Ivashka helped out with two slight mistakes in the end.

On the other hand, Zverev trained well for a whole week and was able to concentrate fully on the sporting tasks: autograph sessions naturally did not take place, selfie requests at most from the ball kids. But basically they strictly adhered to the distance requirements.

The facility presented itself a little differently this year, tents for the catering trade were not set up. That didn't harm the flair of the wonderful tennis club, the mood among the professional players was excellent. Well, it is in the Bavarian capital even in "normal" years.

Krawietz creates the home win

Finally, it's nice that Kevin Krawietz also managed to win at home in person. The local hero competed in Munich with Wesley Koolhof, went into the 250cc event as the favorite and took the title on Sunday under difficult conditions. The Da Capo is definitely planned for 2022. Then again with the regular partner Andreas Mies. And in front of an audience.

What also applies to the main attraction of recent years: Alexander Zverev announced that he would also be coming to the next editions of the BMW Open.
