ATP Munich: Hanfmann after the opening win in the round of 16 against Rune

The world number 112. from Karlsruhe, who came into the main draw with a wildcard, defeated the Brazilian Thiago Monteiro 6:7 (3), 7:6 (5), 6:2.

In the round of 16, Hanfmann meets 19-year-old Dane Holger Rune, who triumphed last year at the MTTC Iphitos facility and most recently reached the final of the Masters in Monte Carlo.

From Tuesday, six more Germans will start in the clay court tournament, which is endowed with 630,705 euros. In addition to number three seeded Alexander Zverev (Hamburg), who has a bye in round one, these are qualifier Marko Topo (Gräfelfing), Jan-Lennard Struff (Warstein), Oscar Otte (Cologne) and Daniel, who also has a wildcard Altmaier (Kempen) and Max Hans Rehberg (Munich).
