Everything is ready for the BMW Open by American Express 2023. On Saturday, spectators can experience absolute world-class tennis for the 107th time at the MTTC Iphitos. As always, the ATP tournament in Munich is the first stop for professionals in Germany. Organizers, sponsors, players and everyone involved are looking forward to nine days of tennis at the highest level with great anticipation: "This year we have one of the top-class fields in the history of the tournament and can expect a very exciting week here in Munich," said tournament director Patrik Kühnen . "You can feel an incredible sense of anticipation on our system and among everyone involved and we are very happy that the MTTC Iphitos can start again tomorrow," says Dr. Fabian Tross , Managing Director Iphitos Event GmbH.
The winner of the BMW Open by American Express can look forward to a very special prize again this year. This, namely the four-door Gran Coupé BMW i4 M50, was officially presented today at the BMW Group plant in Munich.
Top-class field of participants
Holger Rune, Taylor Fritz, Alexander Zverev and Matteo Berrettini lead what is probably the most prominent field of participants in Munich in recent decades. Rune and Fritz, both currently in the top ten in the world rankings, are in the same form as they are in the quarter-finals of the Masters in Monte Carlo this Friday. Olympic champion and two-time BMW Open by American Express champion Alexander Zverev will do everything in his power to win his third title in Munich after an equally strong week in Monte Carlo. In addition to the four top seeds, other international stars such as Botic van de Zandschulp, Sebastian Baez and Lorenzo Sonego complete the exceptionally strong field.
US Open Champion (2020) Dominic Thiem has also moved into the main draw with a wildcard. From a German perspective, the spectators can also look forward to Jan-Lennard Struff, who is currently sensationally in the quarter-finals in Monte Carlo. And on last year's semi-finalist, Oscar Otte . The man from Cologne arrived this Friday and was full of positive expectations for the tournament week: "Munich has a particularly high standard and if the weather cooperates, it's one of the nicest tournaments. I'm really looking forward to the week.”
