One more victory, then Jan-Lennard Struff finally made it: his first tournament victory on the ATP tour. The Warsteiner has already made 170 attempts in his career, not even reaching a final before the BMW Open 2021. It is there that Struff can win the title on Sunday after a 6: 4 and 6.1 against Ilya Ivashka, the conqueror of Alexander Zverev.

The match against Ivashka started very badly for Struff, the man from Belarus quickly advanced to 3-0. The last local hero remaining in the individual competition continued to have problems in his service games, but repeatedly saved himself from dangerous situations. And proved to be mercilessly efficient as a setback. First at the re-break to 3: 4, two players later again. After 48 minutes of play, Struff ended the first round with an ace.

Struff versus Ruud or Basilashvili

In the second set, Struff was the dominant player from the start. He took Ivashla's serve to 2: 1 and 4: 1 - and one last time to 6: 1.

The final on Sunday is against either Casper Ruud from Norway or the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili. The two had to continue their games that were interrupted on Friday due to rain on Saturday - and had no problems with John Millman or Norbert Gombos.
