ATP Munich: Rain postpones Zverev's debut in 2023

Alexander Zverev first waited in vain, then he was redeemed in the late afternoon. When the rain started shortly after 1:00 p.m., as expected, nothing went right at the ATP tournament in Munich.

The match between the German number one and Christopher O'Connell (Australia), like other duels, was finally postponed to Thursday shortly after 5.30 p.m. - Zverev's 26th birthday. However, even then it should rain again.

The first match on Center Court between Daniel Altmaier (Kempen) and the Russian Aslan Karazew had started as planned on Wednesday, but had to be stopped when the score was 0:3 in the third set. The scheduled game plan was then no longer possible due to the persistent rain. Oscar Otte (Cologne), Zverev's possible opponent in the quarterfinals, will only play against Flavio Cobolli on Thursday. He contests the first match on Court 1.

Altmaier is scheduled to finish his match on Thursday at 10.30 a.m., after which defending champion Holger Rune (Denmark) will enter the tournament in his round of 16 against Yannick Hanfmann (Karlsruhe). Zverev's match is then scheduled, followed by the first appearance of second-placed world number ten Taylor Fritz (USA).
