Who was the last man to defeat Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon in a sporty way? Exactly: Sam Querrey. Well, that was six years ago (and Djokovic had mentally taken a little break after winning the French Open for the first time), but the American was never really to be trifled with on grass. All the more surprising that Querrey had no order at all in the first round from Newport against Andy Murray.

Murray needed less than an hour to walk off the court as a winner after a 6: 2 and 6: 0. In the round of 16, there is now a freshly crowned Wimbledon winner: the Australian Max Purcell, who won the doubles title alongside Matthew Ebden in London on Saturday.

The match between Murray and Purcell takes place this Wednesday, after which the last remaining German in the tableau has a big task ahead of him: Peter Gojowczyk has to play against John Isner. In the last game of the day on Center Court, tournament favorite Félix Auger-Aliassime starts against the Australian Jason Kubler, who recently did well at Wimbledon.
