Sinner reveals secret about new coach

There were some prominent names involved after Jannik Sinner parted ways with his longtime coach Riccardo Piatti. Including Boris Becker and Magnus Norman – the latter was traded as the hottest candidate. At least that's what the Italian media reported on Monday evening.

Now we know: things will be different. The 20-year-old Italian tweeted on Thursday evening: "I am delighted to announce that I will be working with Simone Vagnozzi. At the moment there are no plans to strengthen the team beyond that, we're looking at that first. I'm excited for the new chapter, let's go!”

Simone Vagnozzi: Probably in Dubai for the first time in the pits

Sinner and Vagnozzi had already been seen training together in Monaco in the past few days. The 38-year-old, whose highest ranking as an active player was 161 (November 2011), has already had success as a coach with Marco Cecchinato. Together they surprisingly reached the semi-finals of Roland Garros in 2018.

Sinner, who had to accept a small setback due to his corona infection, is currently preparing for the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai. There he will serve alongside Vagnozzi next week.
