Hubert Hurkacz can still dream of Turin

Hubert Hurkacz and Cameron Norrie will not give up the fight for a starting place at the ATP Finals in Turin of their own accord. Why also? It's going well for the Poles and the British, who made it to the round of 16 at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Turin on Wednesday. Hurkacz started against Tommy Paul, who had won against Jan-Lennard Struff at the beginning, like a shot, quickly led 5-0, but in the end had to be happy with 7: 5 and 7: 6 (4) as the winner to walk off the court. In the second set Paul was already in the lead with a break.

Hurkacz will play in the round of 16 on Thursday against Dominik Koepfer, who asserted himself against Félix Auger-Aliassime in two sets and thus put an abrupt end to the Canadian's Turin claims.

Ruud and Sinner with the best starting position

Norrie mastered Reilly Opelka in a not so tight way. The left-hander won 6: 3 and 6: 4. Taylor Fritz, the next American, is waiting for Norrie. Fritz, who last reached the semi-finals in Indian Wells and the final last week in St. Petersburg, beat a seemingly dubious Andrey Rublev with 7: 5 and 7: 6 (2). Rublev's buddy Karen Khachanov is also eliminated: The 2019 Paris winner was defeated by Grigor Dimitrov 4: 6, 6: 2 and 6: 0.

The best prospects for the two remaining starting positions in Turin have Casper Ruud and Jannik Sinner. Ruud was able to qualify for the round of 16 in Paris-Bercy on Tuesday, Sinner still has to face Carlos Alcaraz on Wednesday.
