Of course, Diego Schwartzman would have preferred to fix his first participation in the ATP Finals in London. In the event of a victory against Daniil Medvedev at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Paris-Bercy, Schwartzman would have guaranteed a safe place in the O2 Arena. Even so, the chances are not bad: Pablo Carreno Busta can only oust the Argentine if he wins the tournament. And the Spaniard still has to play against compatriot Rafael Nadal on Friday. With a record of 0: 6 wins.

Schwartzman was defeated against Medvedev from the start and couldn't match the Russian's power. Medvedev not only dictated with his serve, but surprisingly also the longer rallies. After exactly an hour a forehand ball from Schwartzman flew out, which meant the 1: 5 in the second round. A few moments later, the favorite had brought the 6: 3 and 6: 1 under one roof.

Medvedev will meet the winner of the game between Milos Raonic and local hero Ugo Humbert in the semifinals on Saturday. Germany's number one, Alexander Zverev, will play the last match of the day against Stan Wawrinka. And if they win, they will face either Nadal or Carreno Busta.
