ATP Paris Masters: Rafael Nadal defeats Adrian Mannarino

Rafael Nadal made a successful comeback on the ATP tour on Wednesday night. At the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris-Bercy he beat local hero Adrian Mannarino with 7: 5, 6: 4.

Nadal played for the first time since 21 September a match at ATP level. With his victory he retains a lead of 1,280 points in the ATP Race to London against the world number one Novak Djokovic. Nadal will replace the Serbians on Monday in the official world rankings as the leader.

Against Mannarino Nadal handed a late break. In the first round, he was at 6: 5 on the spot, in the second round, he took his opponent in the tenth game the serve for match win.

In round three, Nadal meets Stan Wawrinka, who beat Marin Cilic in straight sets. In direct head-to-head Nadal leads clearly with 18-3.

Nadal plays the indoor tournament in Paris for the first time since 2017. In his career, he won only one title in the hall, 2005, he was successful in his home in Madrid.
