Premiere triumph for Tallon Griekspoor: The Dutchman won his first title on the ATP tour at the 250 tournament in Pune, India. In the final, the 26-year-old defeated Benjamin Bonzi 4: 6, 7: 5 and 6: 3.
Griekspoor, who benefited from an injury to top seed Marin Cilic in the quarter-finals , capped a strong week and will move up to 61st in the world rankings.
Meanwhile, the Belgians Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen won the doubles competition in Pune. The duo defeated the two local heroes Narayanaswamy Sriram Balaji and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in the final 6-4 and 6-4.
