Matteo Berrettini said he came to the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Stuttgart without any expectations - and won it. What the expectations were before the event in London's Queen's Club is not known. But: A week after his triumph at TC Weissenhof, Berrettini also struck in London, defending his title won in 2019 with a 7: 5 and 6: 4 against Filip Krajinovic.

In a tournament in which favorites such as Casper Ruud, Taylor Fritz and Denis Shapovalov failed early on, the Italian seized the opportunity and didn't let his opponent's rebreak in the endgame upset him.

Berrettini is one of the favorites in the upcoming Wimbledon tournament. There he was in the final last year but Novak Djokovic had to admit defeat in four sets. Djokovic himself will come to Wimbledon without an official preparatory tournament, the Serb will play in an exhibition fight tournament in London next week, in which Rafael Nadal will also take part.
