In the ATP Race to Turin, Hubert Hurkacz is currently in the last place that would be enough for a direct qualification. But this is not yet certain.

Hubert Hurkacz is not yet firmly in Turin

Jannik Sinner and Hubert Hurkacz will both book the Indian Wells ATP Masters 1000 tournament as a missed opportunity. Sinner went down against the amazing Taylor Fritz in the round of 16, Hurkacz left many opportunities after the departure of favorite Daniil Medvedev against Grigor Dimitrov - in terms of tournament victory and qualification for the ATP finals. On the other hand, Hurkacz has achieved a personal milestone: for the first time he is listed among the ten best players in the world.

After all: Hurkacz, already champion in Miami this year, is still in ninth place in the annual ranking. Since Rafael Nadal won't play in Turin, that would be enough for the moment. Jannik Sinner is currently in eleventh place, 360 points behind Hurkacz. That means that a South Tyrolean championship in the current week in Antwerp would be too little for the first participation in the end of the year. Because in Belgium there is a maximum of 250 points to get.

Norrie still has a chance

And then there is Cameron Norrie, who was able to take advantage of the favorable circumstances in Indian Wells. Norrie is only 160 points short of Hurkacz, which could be won in Vienna or Paris-Bercy. Subject to the fact that the Pole does not attempt another big final sprint himself.

Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev and Matteo Berrettini do not have to worry of this kind. These six players have already qualified for Turin.
