The sixth ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year was definitely worth the trip for Rafael Nadal . The Spaniard not only secured the title in Montreal, he also took the lead in the "Race to London" with his 35th full success at this level. The 33-year-old leads this ranking in front of the already qualified Novak Djokovic.

In addition, Nadal can look forward to the world rankings. Djokovic is clearly in the lead with over 4,000 points, but the victory in Montreal will put the Mallorcan in second place at the US Open. He thus avoided a duel with the Serb before the final. A win by third-placed Roger Federer in Cincinnati could not change that - even though Nadal canceled his participation in Ohio .

Dominic Thiem still ranks behind Federer in the ATP charts. The Austrian scratches the 5,000 mark with 4,925 points and is almost 1,000 points ahead of the fifth-placed Kei Nishikori. Alexander Zverev is right behind the Japanese, who improved by one place compared to the previous week.

Zverev not in the top eight in the race

Montreal finalist Daniil Medvedev can also look forward to. With eighth place, the Russian achieved the best placement of his young career so far. Stefanos Tsitsipas, who fell two positions behind the 23-year-old, Karen Khachanov and Fabio Fognini complete the top ten behind Medvedev.

Medvedev also improved in the "Race to London". The Russian is sixth behind Nadal, Djokovic, Federer, Thiem and Tsitsipas. Wimbledon semi-finalists Roberto Bautista Agut and Kei Nishikori follow behind him. Alexander Zverev is tenth - his gap to eighth, who is the last to qualify for the annual finals in London, is only 150 points.
