Novak Djokovic has further expanded his lead in the ATP world rankings after his success at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid : the Serb has more than 4,000 points ahead of Rafael Nadal in the current charts - and can add more this week . After all, Nadal has to defend the tournament victory in Foro Italico and therefore 1,000 points.

Dominic Thiem has improved one position despite the narrow semi-final loss to Djokovic: The Austrian is now fourth ahead of Alexander Zverev, setting his career high. Not unimportant with regard to the seed list at the French Open, by the way.

Zverev makes up places in the race

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Fabio Fognini are celebrating new records: The Greek, defeated by Djokovic in the Madrid final, is currently in seventh place, just 100 points behind Kei Nishikori. And Fognini knocks on the door of the top ten as eleventh.

Novak Djokovic is also clearly ahead in the annual ranking, the Race to London. Dominic Thiem is fifth, Alexander Zverev made five positions with his quarter-finals in Madrid and is currently in 15th place.

In doubles, Jürgen Melzer's success in Aix en Provence improved by seven places to 55th place, Dominic Thiem made 66 positions with the final entry in Madrid - and is now higher than ever: in 79th place.
