Andy Murray is in the second round in Rotterdam

The start of the tennis season 2021 could have gone better for Andy Murray : After the corona-related cancellation of the Australian Open, things did not go as planned for the Scotsman at the Challenger tournament in Biella or the ATP 250 event in Montpellier The 33-year-old has now achieved his first success at the highest level after around six months in Rotterdam.

Murray had to unpack all his fighting skills against Robin Hasse in order to jump the opening hurdle. After a weak first set, the former world number one first round won number two in the tiebreak, only to quickly fall 3-0 down in the third act.

Then the world number 123 turned. but up and secured the last six games of the match. After the 2: 6, 7: 6 (2) and 6: 3 success, Murray now faces Marcos Giron or Andrey Rublev in the second round.

Also one lap further are Kei Nishikori and Cameron Norrie. Nishikori - like Murray often plagued by bad luck with injuries - beat Felix Auger-Aliassime 7: 6 (4) and 6: 1, Norrie gave Nikoloz Basilashvili no chance in the 6: 0 and 6: 3 success.
