ATP Seoul: Denis Shapovalov and Yoshihito Nishioka in the final

Denis Shapovalov and Yoshihito Nishioka got the upper hand in the semifinals of the ATP 250 event in Seoul on Saturday morning (CET). While the Japanese had to work hard to reach the final, Shapovalov won in straight sets.

Denis Shapovalov has evidently put aside the negative run that bothered the Canadian in the middle of the season. The 23-year-old showed a strong performance against Jenson Brooksby from the USA on Saturday morning (CET) and made it into the final 7-5 and 6-4.

It's the fifth ATP final for Shapovalov, who is playing for his second career title on Sunday. Nishioka also already has a title on the credit side and has been at ATP level in three finals so far.

The Japanese had to work far harder than Shapovalov to reach the final. The 27-year-old won section one safely 6:3, but then had to accept the set equalization with 4:6. In the deciding set, Nishioka managed a break early on, that of the world number 56. Although had to give back. At 5: 3, the 27-year-old finally managed the decisive break for the three-set success.
