Yoshihito Nishioka won the final of the 250 tournament in Seoul against Denis Shapovalov 6:4, 7:6 (5) and thus won his second tour title. He collected his first in Shenzhen in 2018.

The Japanese crowned a dream week: At the start of the tournament he had defeated Dan Evans, who was fifth seeded, and then in the quarter-finals against the top-ranked Casper Ruud, currently number 2 in the world.

"You're playing incredibly well this year," Shapovalov said, paying tribute to his opponent. And added with a laugh: "It's incredibly annoying to play against you." Nishioka countered Shapovalov's statement: "That makes me happy."

In the live ranking, the 27-year-old is currently in 41st place, higher than ever before. 48th place was his highest ranking so far.

Along with the points, Nishioka also takes home $170,035.
