Will Milos Raonic pack it again? Things are not looking too rosy for the tall Canadian at the moment. If the former number three in the ATP rankings had to do without the Australian Open due to problems with the Achilles tendon, the 31-year-old also flew out of the top 100 in the men's world rankings yesterday.
No tournament registrations until the beginning of March
After more than eleven years, the native Montenegrin had to say goodbye to the elite circle of the hundred best tennis players, and since January 31, 2022 he has only been in 119th place on the ATP list of the best. Certainly a drastic turning point for the Wimbledon finalist from 2016, he will now have to rely on wildcards to avoid a difficult tournament qualification.
The service cannon from Podgorica has eight tournament successes under its belt, and Raonic made it to the final in August 2020 in New York City.
How and when the North American can return to the ATP tour is not foreseeable. In any case, Raonic cannot be found on the registration lists for the tournaments in February. It remains to be hoped that the 1.96m man will at least show signs of life again at the two major US hard court events in Indian Wells and Miami.
