ATP: Stefanos Tsitsipas - many wins, too few titles?
Stefanos Tsitsipas has the most match wins in 2022. Apart from the financial aspect, the reward for this is rather meager.

The next victory that Stefanos Tsitsipas achieves in an official match will be a kind of milestone, namely number 250. There is still a lot missing up to four digits, but if Tsitsipas continues like 2022, then the 24-year-old is at least on a good note Path. Because there are 61 match wins listed in the official game statistics. Which are not all to be evaluated equally.
On the one hand, this record also includes the success in the Laver Cup against Diego Schwartzman. It is thanks to Roger Federer's charisma that the appearances in the still young team competition are included in the ATP statistics. But it's a bit strange: Because in the Laver Cup, a match tiebreak is played instead of the third set, also in singles. The second little asterisk in Tsitsipas: The victories in the Davis Cup meeting with Tunisia. It was against opponents beyond the top 255 - which is not the fault of Stefanos Tsitsipas
Tsitsipas wins in Monte Carlo and Mallorca
.61 victories, but surely they brought in a fair amount of trophies for Tsitsipas? Well: no. Because only two championships went to his account in 2022: In Monte Carlo, Tsitsipas managed to defend the title in the final against Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina. And in Mallorca he defeated Roberto Bautista Agut in the final.
However, Tsitsipas had to congratulate his conqueror five times after a final: most recently in Stockholm Holger Rune, before that in Astana and in Rome Novak Djokovic, in Cincinnati Borna Coric and in Rotterdam Félix Auger-Aliassime. With his defeat, Tsitsipas helped the latter to overcome a major final trauma and finally win the first tour title.
Speaking of which: Stefanos Tsitsipas is also approaching a milestone when it comes to tournament wins. The next will be the tenth title of his career. Or shouldn't one say in view of his diligence, his match wins and his claim: only the tenth?
