Stefanos Tsitsipas has a special memory with Stockholm: in 2018 the Greek won his first tournament on the ATP tour in the Swedish capital. Eight others have since joined. And this year, too, things are looking extremely promising for Tsitsipas, who made it into the semi-finals on Friday with a 7: 5 and 6: 3 against Mikael Ymer. Ymer had beaten Tommy Paul the day before and held up well against Tsitsipas as well. The variable game was the decisive factor for the favorite.
In the semi-finals, Tsitsipas surprisingly had to deal with Emil Ruusuvuori, who defeated a tired looking Frances Tiafoe 6: 1 and 6: 2. Tiafoe was behind Elias Ymer in the round of 16 by one set and 4-0, but then made the comeback with a violent performance. The strength was then lacking against Ruusuvuori.
The other semi-final match in Stockholm will be played by Alex de Minaur and Holger Rune. De Minaur won against Denis Shapovalov 6:2 and 7:6 (4). Rune prevailed against Cameron Norrie 6: 7 (4), 6: 3 and 6: 3.
