In the end, Tsitsipas won 6: 3, 6: 4 against the young Swiss Dominic Stricker - even a break in the rain did not detract from the Greek's performance.
The service rate for the first service could be a little higher, Tsitsipas mused afterwards. "Otherwise I was good in terms of footwork, was very active on the first ball after serve, pushed my opponent back well. It was a good match."
Tsitsipas now meets Andy Murray, who had won against Alexander Bublik at midday .
And Tsitsipas likes the lawn
It is often pointed out that Tsitsipas does not particularly like grass - also because he lost at the start of the last two WImbledon editions. A misconception, Tsitsipas explained. "If someone asks me about it, I would say it's one of my favorite rubbers," said Tsitsipas. Technically it's different on grass, from the footwork, from the head. "But I think my game is made for grass."
However, the fifth in the world rankings has great respect for his next opponent Murray. "He's one of the best grass players. He's been away for a long time but seems to be playing well, winning well. His game is there. He's one of the favorites at this tournament."
