The crowd favorite Gael Monfils is fourth at the home tournament in Metz.

Last week was dominated by the World Group duels in the Davis Cup, for one or the other tennis fan it felt like a week without real tennis highlights. This week, however, in addition to the attractive Laver Cup from Friday to Sunday, there are again two ATP World Tour 250 tournaments waiting for the starved men's tennis enthusiasts. Both in French Metz (but indoor) and in Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan, hard courts are played.

The field of participants at the Moselle Open is particularly attractive. In addition to wildcard owner Andy Murray, top people such as Hubert Hurkacz, Pablo Carreno Busta, Alex de Minaur and crowd favorite Gael Monfils in Lorraine rush into the fray. From a German point of view, Jan-Lennard Struff is the only one directly qualified, but could still get support from qualifiers Peter Gojowczyk and Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Rodionov failed in qualification in Kazakhstan

Struff gets to do with Mikael Ymer in round one, the head-to-head sees the Swedes lead 1-0. The Austrians Oliver Marach and Philipp Oswald are part of the team in doubles. In round one, the two of them, ranked third, face the French-Canadian pairing Nicolas Mahut and Vasek Pospisil.

In the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana), the paper form is a little more leisurely to the point. The top seed is the Russian Aslan Karatsev, followed by local hero Alexander Bublik and the Serbs Dusan Lajovic and Filip Krajinovic. The Austrian Jurij Rodionov failed right at the beginning of the qualification against the Australian Matthew Ebden with 5: 7, 4: 6. The tournament will therefore take place in singles without participation from the DACH region - only the German Andre Begemann is in doubles with the American Nathaniel Lammons.
