Will the Indian Wells ATP Masters 1000 event take place in 2021? And if so, when?

In this crazy tennis year 2020, it was exactly the ATP Masters 1000 event from Indian Wells that was supposed to initiate the interruption of the ATP tour, the length of which nobody could have guessed at that time. Also in the coming season, the Masters in California is not under a good star, at least the original date cannot be kept. That was clear no later than Tuesday afternoon when the ATP published the official calendar until April. And the Masters from Indian Wells was missing on this one.

A few moments later, the organizers of the traditional tournament turned to tennis fans and confirmed on their channels that the tournament could not be held on the scheduled date. "The tournament is working proactively with the ATP and WTA tours as well as the title sponsor BNP Paribas to find dates for the event later in the year," the organizers write on Twitter.

A decision is to be expected in the "near future", as the organizers explain: The decision not to hold the tournament on the original date had meanwhile been made after "thorough consultation with state and local health authorities and the tournament owner Larry Ellison". A hosting after the US Open is considered most likely at the moment. There is better news from the ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami . This tournament appears on the official calendar on the original date and has already confirmed it.

Here is the complete unofficial calendar:
