Andy Murray lost to Mikael Ymer in the first round of Washington

Andy Murray failed right at the start of the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Washington: The Scot had to play a varied game against Mikael Ymer after 2:51 hours of play with 6: 7 (8), 6: 4 and 1: 6 give lost. While Ymer will meet the Russian Aslan Karatsev in the second round, the two-time Wimbledon winner will continue to Montreal, where he has not yet qualified for the main competition at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament.

The encounter between the Briton and the twelve-year-old man from Sweden was back and forth, both opponents seemed to have physical problems at different times, which were probably due to the hot and humid conditions. Murray was therefore a little frustrated after the match: "I've had problems with cramps in the last two tournaments. I have to look at it with my team now and find out what's going on and make any small changes."

Also eliminated was the German Peter Gojowczyk, who helped Benoit Paire win his first match since May of this year. After six defeats in a row, the 33-year-old Frenchman prevailed 7: 5, 6: 4 against the Munich player. Dominik Koepfer had previously won against the South Korean Soonwoo Kwon in three sets and now meets the seventh-ranked Russian Karen Khachanov.

Here is the single tableau from Washington.
