The decision that made the round on Tuesday does not come as a surprise: In the past few days, the signs had increased that the planned restart of the ATP tour on August 14 in Washington could not be held. Because of the increasing numbers of corona infected people in the United States. And because of the fact that it is not clear how the participants from Washington will then get to the US Open.

A few days ago, the governor of the State of New York, Andrew Cuomo, had decreed that people entering New York should go into a two-week quarantine. Which will also be exciting to watch in view of the Cincinnati / US Open double stroke. Because then at the latest, players from all over the world should play in the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows for world ranking points and lots of money.

The latter two points could be the decisive factor in the fact that a majority of tennis professionals are still reportedly planning a trip to New York. Even if the EU had only just confirmed its strict regulations for entry into European countries from the United States a few days ago.
