Nick Kyrgios has successfully started the hard court tournament in Washington

Nick Kyrgios has successfully returned to the ATP tour after a break of about a month: The Australian, who reached the Wimbledon final this year and lost there to Novak Djokovic in four sets, won the first round game at the ATP hard court event in Washington against the local hero Marcos Giron after almost exactly one hour of play with a clear result of 6: 3, 6: 2.

Another American, Tommy Paul, is waiting for the 27-year-old from Canberra in round two. Fourteenth seeded in the 48 grid, Paul had a bye in round one.

Andrey Rublev, on the other hand, is already in the round of 16. The Russian, who is top seeded in DC, defeated the British Jack Draper 6:4, 6:2 and now has to deal with either the veteran Jack Sock or Maxime Cressy. The late-born Parisian recently won his first ATP Tour title at the Newport lawn classic.

The eighth-ranked Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp made it very exciting against the Croatian Borna Gojo (ATP 198) and only won after 3:07 hours with 7: 6 (6), 6: 7 (5), 6: 4 . Possible opponents in the round of 16: The wildcard player Christopher Eubanks (ATP 156) or tenth seed Frances Tiafoe - both local heroes.

Here is the single tableau from Washington.
