After his exhausting round of 16 victory against Michael Mmoh, the top seeded Croatian Borna Coric had a lot less to fight in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Winston-Salem: The 26-year-old easily defeated Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6: 3 and 6: 1.

In the semi-finals, Coric now meets another Argentinian in Sebastian Baez. The winner of the Generali Open in Kitzbühel celebrated a clear 6:3 and 6:0 victory over fourth seeded Laslo Djere in the quarterfinals.

Lehecka benefits from Korda injury

Meanwhile, Jiri Lehecka is already in the final. The Czech initially beat Max Purcell 7: 6 (4) and 6: 4 on Thursday to then benefit from a walkover by his scheduled semi-final opponent Sebastian Korda. The American suffered an ankle injury in his 4: 6, 6: 1 and 7: 6 (7) quarterfinal win against Richard Gasquet.

It is currently unclear whether Korda, who fended off a match point against Gasquet, can serve at the US Open, which begins on Monday. "Hopefully things will get better in the next few days. It was a difficult decision but a necessary one. I'll keep my head up and hopefully recover for the next week," said the 23-year-old.
