ATP world rankings: Novak Djokovic back at the top, Rafael Nadal slips

Novak Djokovic is back at the top of the ATP world rankings after his success at the Australian Open. Last year's winner Rafael Nadal , on the other hand, lost four places.

Not only was there a very special Grand Slam title up for grabs on Sunday, Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas also made it up among themselves who will be at the top of the ATP world rankings from Monday. The well-known outcome: Novak Djokovic moves up four places thanks to the 2000 points from Melbourne and after a few weeks' absence shines again from the place in the sun of the ATP charts.

The 35-year-old is followed by youngster Carlos Alcaraz, who had to give up the number one position after just a few weeks and is now in second place. Stefanos Tsitsipas moves up to third place and moves up one place, behind them Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev complete the top 5. However, there was a moderate crash at Nadal, who lost four places and is currently sixth. The Spaniard lost 1955 points from his previous year's title and will continue to miss the ATP Tour for a few weeks due to injury. The top 10 are also in danger for the Mallorquin.

Medvedev flies out of the top 10

Otherwise there are few major changes to report in the top 10, Felix Auger-Aliassime remains seventh, Taylor Fritz, Holger Rune and Hubert Hurkacz all move past Daniil Medvedev, who is no longer part of the top 10 as 12th . The Russian had reached the final in Melbourne last year. This season, the former world number one failed at Sebastian Korda (round three). The American is the new number 26.

Tommy Paul also showed a clear plus, climbing to 19th place for his semifinals. Sensational quarter-finalist Jir Lehecka made up 32 places and is currently in 39th place, youngster Ben Shelton - quarter-finalist Down Under - is up 45 places. The 20-year-old is the new number 44 in the classification. JJ Wolf also made up a lot of ground Down Under, the American is in the top 48 for the first time.

Thiem remains Austria's number one

The best German is still Alexander Zverev in 14th place, Oscar Otte loses six places and is number 80 for the German "Zwei". Daniel Altmaier is also among the top 100 (91st place). From an Austrian point of view, Dominic Thiem, 99th, is the only player in the top 100 in the classification. The Austrian slipped back one place.

Austria's number two is Jurij Rodionov as number 125. behind them are Dennis Novak (144th) and Filip Misolic next to each other. Sebastian Ofner, however, made up 42 places and is the new number 151. Just ahead of Jan-Lennard Struff, who after a good few weeks has moved up 14 places and is in 153rd place.
