Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem , Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, Matteo Berrettini and David Goffin from the top 10 are currently registered in the men's field - with Federer, Monfils, Fognini and Wawrinka only four players from the top 20 are missing . /

Federer had already ended his 2020 season due to two knee operations.

For the women, the top ten are Karolina Pliskova, Sofia Kenin, Kiki Bertens, Belinda Bencic and Serena Williams, as well as the penultimate, directly qualified player Coco Gauff.

However, the world rankings first Ashleigh Barty and the world rankings second Simona Halep are missing, as well as Elina Svitolina, Bianca Andreescu and Naomi Osaka from the top 10. The German top players Angelique Kerber and Julia Görges also do not appear on the entry list.

It can also be expected that other players will cancel at short notice - for personal reasons due to the corona pandemic or due to travel or quarantine restrictions.

Further cancellations are expected

Simona Halep had only canceled her start in Palermo (from August 3) at the beginning of the week, despite efforts and subsequent indignation of the tournament organizer.

Cincinnati's ATP and WTA tournaments are scheduled for August 21st at the US Open. The corresponding preparations have also started here.

For both the Cincinnati event and the subsequent US Open (from August 31), no spectators will be allowed on the facility in Flushing Meadows. The players should train and play shielded in a "bubble". There will be no qualification this year.
