Will the Australian Open take place in 2021? With spectators?

The local authorities announced this. The decision was made in the course of extensive easing in the Australian state of Victoria.

The reason for this is the fact that around 90 percent of the population there are vaccinated. This means that the restrictions could fall for major events, among other things, it said.

The first Grand Slam tournament of the coming year in Melbourne Park is scheduled to begin on January 17th. For the latest edition, the organizers had worked with reduced capacities due to the pandemic.

However, it remains to be seen whether all the stars of the scene can be there. The authorities have specified full vaccination protection as a prerequisite for participation.
