The two-time Wimbledon champion from the Czech Republic beat the Greek Maria Sakkari 6: 7 (4), 6: 3 and 6: 2, making it clear that they made it into the round of the last eight. She is now waiting for the winner of the game between the top seeded world rankings Ashleigh Barty from Australia and Alison Riske from the USA (9 a.m.CET). /

Kvitova ran after a break from the start, but Sakkari missed to reserve at 5-4, as well as 6-5. She finally won set one in the tie break. In round two, Kvitova was twice unable to transport a break lead, but at 3: 3 she pulled away, played six games in a row and won in the end.

Kvitova now faces the winner of the game between world number one Ashleigh Barty and Alison Riske (night session, 9 a.m.CET).

Sofia Kenin beats Cori Gauff

Teen star Cori Gauff has left. The only 15-year-old US hope was defeated by her compatriot Sofia Kenin with 7: 6 (5), 3: 6 and 0: 6 - Kenin is thus for the first time in the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament. The 21-year-old played in sets two and three almost error-free, only 9 errors without need were here, in contrast to Gauffs 27.

The Tunisian Ons Jabeur surprisingly made it into the quarterfinals. Caroline Wozniacki's vanquisher beat Qiang Wang 7: 6 (4) and 6: 1. Wang had surprisingly triumphed against Serena Williams in the third round.

Jabeur is playing in the quarterfinals against Kenin - for both players it's about their first Grand Slam semi-final.

Kerber on Monday

On Monday, the lower half of the women's tableau will play the remaining round of 16. Among other things, Angelique Kerber is at the start - the winner from 2016 will meet Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (from 7 a.m.CET). 2018 finalist Simona Halep also has to play, she plays against Elise Mertens.
