"If you look at his level of maturity, you can see why he has not fulfilled his potential and probably never will," explained Michael Venus after losing the doubles quarter-finals against Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis. /

The two Australians had won against the German-New Zealand duo in three sets on Tuesday in the madhouse of the John Cain Arena, where Kyrgios in particular played on the spectators again - and with questionable methods. "His level of maturity is similar to that of a 10-year-old, to put it mildly," says Venus.

"At the end of the day he's an idiot"

Venus said he received a lot of messages from fans saying how ashamed they were of how the audience behaved. "These are his supporters, and he does it the way it helps him," Venus said of Kyrgios. "But at the end of the day he's an idiot."

Venus also does not understand that no official intervention has been made. "You can't cheer on the crowd between serves. If he was on the other side, he would have freaked out."

During one of his actions , Kyrgios played a ball that was not in play and hit a boy in the audience.

Tim Pütz: "Just unsportsmanlike"

Tim Pütz had also been critical of Kyrgios. "What he's doing between the first and second serve has nothing to do with entertainment. It's just unsportsmanlike," he explained .

In part, however, Pütz also understood the audience. "If I were 23 years old and had two beers, maybe I would have been one of them who would have screamed," said the double world number 18. from Frankfurt.
