Baby, biography and Bois de Boulogne: Kerber is far from finished

The autobiography is not supposed to mark the end of her career, nor is the baby break: Angelique Kerber hopes to take part in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Recently at the Leipzig Opera Ball, Angelique Kerber skillfully hid her baby bump under a classy red robe. No questions about pregnancy please, not even about the exact date of birth of your first child. "Sometime in the spring of 2023" is all that the 34-year-old can elicit.

On other topics, the former world number one is much more talkative. She definitely wants to continue her career after the baby break, she hopes above all to participate in the 2024 Olympic tennis tournament in Paris' Bois de Boulogne, the annual venue of the French Open. "I've already been to London and Rio de Janeiro, and it's something very special to play for your country at such an earth-shattering event," said Kerber in an interview with the Porsche Newsroom .

It is well known that everything in sport is a question of will - and significantly, that is also the title of her autobiography, which will be on sale on November 5th. In the 224-page book, Angie Kerber describes her way to the tennis throne, her three Grand Slam victories in Wimbledon, New York and Melbourne and the sometimes hard and demanding life as a tennis pro.

Kerber: "If I do something, then do it right"

However, as already mentioned, looking back on a great career should not mark the end of it; on the contrary, Kerber would like to add one or two chapters. She will definitely try "to get fit again as soon as possible and to return to the tour, but without rushing anything. And then I want to attack again. If I do something, then do it right."

Her current everyday life, Kerber is happy to admit, "is of course something completely new for me now", after all she had "never missed a Grand Slam in the past 13 years" until the US Open 2022. She tries to use the time until the birth of her child "as best as possible for me. I keep doing sports to stay fit, I also keep playing tennis. Sport is part of my life."

Most recently, Kerber supported the Eurosport team in broadcasting the US Open and commented on the women's final between the later tournament winner Iga Swiatek (Poland) and Ons Jabeur (Tunisia). "I now know a lot better what to look out for with one or the other player if I meet them again," she said afterwards.
