Germany's women's tennis boss Barbara Rittner has joined the criticism of the Adriatic tour. "This is an absolute catastrophe for the entire tennis family. I don't understand what world they live in. Some of them have probably gone to their heads," said Rittner of the Cologne City Gazette.
On the show tour co-organized by the world number one Novak Djokovic, the participants Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric and on Monday evening Viktor Troicki also tested positive for the corona virus.
"Djokovic has done a disservice to the tennis world"
"In my opinion, even a Novak Djokovic cannot hide behind the fact that they say that they have complied with the specified regulations. Obviously there were no real regulations," said the 47-year-old: "The whole world keeps a distance and wears masks. And on the Adriatic Sea you sat shoulder to shoulder without masks, celebrated at night and lay in your arms without your torso. " Djokovic has "done a disservice to the tennis world."
The final between Djokovic and Andrej Rublew (Russia) was canceled for security reasons. The Adriatic tour had caused a lot of criticism, especially at the Belgrade station. The spectator ranks were filled to the brim, the players hugged each other and partied in a club.
