Schett told Eurosport that she thought it was wrong to believe Emma Raducanu could win Roland Garros. She urged the tennis world not to put too much pressure on the young Brit - especially when she's set to compete at Wimbledon.

Raducanu got off to a solid start in her first WTA season on clay, reaching the quarterfinals in Stuttgart (Swiatek) and the round of 16 in Madrid (Kalinina). Ahead of the clay court season, there was a big question mark over how Raducanu would play on that surface. She didn't have a lot of experience.

"Wimbledon semi-final would be incredible"

Barabara Schett said in the interview: "I don't think people expect Emma to win the French Open, but it's clear that she could be dangerous. We know that a Grand Slam tournament is always different and that the course of events, especially for women, is always somehow open.”

Raducanu drew attention to himself at Wimbledon last year. The 19-year-old reached the round of 16 at the All England Club with a wild card before being forced to retire against Ajla Tomljanovic. “The big challenge will definitely be Wimbledon for Raducanu. I think if she could reach a semifinal it would be incredible. People shouldn't assume she will win Wimbledon. It's a bit too big a task, but I think if she can forget about all the stress around her, that would be an asset."
