Simona Halep continues comeback tour in Portugal
Simona Halep will compete in the WTA 125 tournament in Oeiras next week.

Simona Halep will continue her comeback tour next week at the WTA 125 event in Oeiras, Portugal. The former world number one, who recently had to take a break due to a doping ban, will thus play on clay for the first time in almost two years.
Halep's last appearance on clay was at the 2022 French Open in Paris, where she lost to Qinwen Zheng in the second round. In 2018, the Romanian won her first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, followed by her triumph at Wimbledon a year later.

Halep will compete in Oeiras thanks to a wildcard. The 32-year-old is currently ranked 1144th in the world rankings. In her only appearance since her doping break, the two-time Grand Slam winner was in very good form, but lost her opening match to Paula Badosa in Miami in three sets.
