Bianca Andreescu uses the interruption of the tour to work on her comeback.

It was the WTA finals at the end of October last year that last time Bianca Andreescu was seen on the pitch. Since then, the Canadian has had to cancel all appearances . An injury to the knee - which also forced her to retire at the WTA finals - has made it impossible to compete. And the 19-year-old could have jumped to the top this year, as the big successes had only started with the title in Indian Wells.

That victory in Indian Wells was the first big triumph for the Canadian, but the real highlight of the previous season was clearly the US Open. "Auckland really gave me a boost. I beat a few top players. Rogers Cup definitely gave me helped to do well at the US Open as well, I was under no pressure as I came back after a long injury, "said Andreescu of the weeks before her biggest triumph to date.

At the Rogers Cup as well as at the US Open, the final opponent was the same: Serena Williams. Andreescu had still benefited from a task of the old champion at her home tournament in Toronto, she had to close the bag herself at the US Open - and was thus in dire straits: At the 5: 1 score in round two, the Canadian already had her first match ball - a little later it was 5: 5. But it did not want to be that day for Grand Slam title number 24 for Serena Williams - Andreescu won 7: 5.

Creative visualization - the key to success?

Successes that Andreescu has so far been denied in calendar year 2020: "I was supposed to be playing in Indian Wells, but then something happened in training and we thought it was better to wait instead. I would have been ready for Miami, so it is Just bad luck that it all started in this time. I take this time to get completely healthy when I haven't been at 100 percent, even if I think I was, " Andreescu speaks to the Tennis Channel over the past few weeks before the WTA tour was interrupted due to COVID-19.

Now the Canadian uses the time to work out in her own gym. But the 19-year-old is also indulging in reading and X-Box games these days. But she has a clear goal in mind: "I use this time to recover from the injury and prepare for my return," quotes Ubitennis.com Andreescu, who has her very own secret of success: "This is called creative visualization Imagine yourself in a moment in the future what a certain moment should look like. For me it was the US Open. I have been imagining this since I was 15, "reveals the 19-year-old.
