Boris Becker spoke - and how

Even Christopher Kas had to swallow: Didn't Boris Becker just say that he was looking at his greatest rival at this very moment? But the explanation followed on foot: he had always been the greatest opponent himself - the "Man in the Mirror" had always caused him the most problems, the three-time Wimbledon champ admitted in more than 20 minutes of conversation with Kasi.

The latter had again prepared excellently for his guest - which did not prevent the Red Baron from making corrections where he considered them necessary: it was true, of course, that in January 1991 he reached number one in the ATP rankings for the first time. At that time, however, there were two parallel world rankings - and in that of the ITF, which primarily considered the majors and the Davis Cup, Becker was already ranked the world's best in 1989.

Becker and Stich owe another dinner

Hardly a milestone in Boris Becker's career went unnoticed, of course not the success together with Michael Stich at the Olympic tennis tournament in Barcelona in 1992. Niki Pilic had had the main part in this success - by putting the two not-so-best friends around a table . And gave them the following priceless advice: Talk to each other. That helped, especially in the semifinals against the world leaders and local favorites Sergio Casal and Emilio Samchez. Incidentally, Becker and Stich have not yet celebrated this triumph: Stich left immediately after the match ended, and the joint dinner for the winner never took place. But is still on the common agenda.

And this Friday, Kasi will continue live on our Instagram channel “tennisnetnews” from 6 p.m .: Philipp Kohlschreiber is expected there, among other things.
