The 52-year-old is currently unable to do this "because I am responsible for the German men. But nothing is forever." At the beginning of the year, Becker was captain of the German team in Brisbane at the ATP Cup, also at the Davis Cup games in Germany, as most recently in Düsseldorf against Belarus, Becker is at the start.

Becker, who coached the world number one Novak Djokovic between 2013 and 2016 and currently works as "Head of Men's Tennis" at the German Tennis Association (DTB), would take on a new commitment on the side of a professional, "if there are players that interest me and want to deal with me openly ". A player who is repeatedly mentioned in this context is Alexander Zverev, whom Becker knows very well, also his immediate surroundings.

He would also like his expertise as a coach to be recognized more: "I think you're still delusional about the 17-year-old Wimbledon winner. At performances, it often means that I've won six Grand Slams as a player and that six wins as a Djokovic coach are often not mentioned, but they were also very important to me personally. "
