The 54-year-old explained this to the jury at Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday. He would present the trophies "tomorrow" if that were possible, Becker said at the trial against him.

According to his own statements, he sold his property to be solvent again, and some of "many" of his trophies and other mementos from his career are now also missing. "For a player, it's about winning the title. The trophy itself is less important when you're playing," said Becker. Today, however, he wishes he still had them in his possession "to show them to my children".

The trophies he is said not to have handed over as agreed following his bankruptcy in 2017 also include two of his three Wimbledon singles titles, as well as his 1992 Olympic doubles gold and the 1991 and 1996 Australian Open trophies.

The trial of the tennis idol has been going on for over a week. Becker, who won six Grand Slam tournaments in his sports career, is accused of a lack of cooperation in his bankruptcy proceedings. If convicted, the Londoner-by-choice faces up to seven years in prison. He denies the allegations.
