Borna Coric also has great confidence in Federer in 2021.

Borna Coric reacted mentally to the start of the corona-related lockdown in March this year. As the Croatian reveals in an interview with Ubitennis.com , he rented a forest house in Split, where he set up a small home gym. "I worked physically for five weeks and played tennis only a few times. Then I took a week off and went to Zadar, about two hours from my home in Zagreb, and did a two-week tennis camp," Coric said of his training schedule.

In addition to the training, he is currently in lively exchange with other players around the world, especially the uncertainties regarding the taking of the North America tour are a regular topic here. "I am ready to play, the new rules will be tough, I have not decided whether it would be good to go to New York. This year it will not be perfect, it will be difficult to play without fans , but if we have a chance to play a few tournaments, maybe we should, "explains the Croatian.

Roger Federer, who announced a few days ago that he would be missing the rest of the season due to injuries, will certainly not be an opponent in New York . Coric believes very well that he could still play for the very big titles even at almost 40 years of age. "We have been saying that he is too old for ten years. So unless he stops playing tennis, I will certainly not write him off," said the world ranking 33. A strongly returning Roger Federer would not be such a big disadvantage for Borna Coric, since this would bring his big dream a little closer. When asked which tournament he would like to win with a final victory over which player, Coric said: "Wimbledon with a victory over Federer in the final. Maybe next year."

Coric will need another big leap forward, a leap that was predicted much earlier after his excellent performance in 2014 and 2015. "I'm a great example of a boy who didn't improve his game. I didn't train well, my focus wasn't where he needed to be. These very early results distracted me, I relaxed and thought too much "Everything would come automatically", the Croatian knows this year exactly where his mistakes were at the time. Errors that Borna Coric never made a second time during his lockdown training.
