Contrary to a rumor that he is adding a Challenger tournament in Arizona before Miami, Dominic Thiem would rather complete a fitness block with Duglas Cordero and work on his form for the upcoming tasks in various training sessions. His brother and manager Moritz said on Sunday: "A week of intensive fitness is now a priority. After that he's likely to play Miami, Estoril, Monte Carlo."
It is therefore also clear that Thiem will start the European clay court season on April 3 at the ATP 250 tournament in Portugal.
At the Masters in Indian Wells, Thiem looked like the sure winner of his match for a long time. He led 6-4 and 4-1 against Adrian Mannarino, but let Mannarino back into the match. In the end, Thiem lost in the tie-break of the third set. Also in doubles alongside Casper Ruud it was over in the first round. The duo lost to top doubles Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic.
