Carlos Alcaraz is back

While the Australian Open is gradually entering its decisive phase, Carlos Alcaraz was happy to return to the training ground on Friday. The world number one completed a tennis session for the first time after his leg injury, because of which he had to cancel his participation in the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.

Alcaraz will play his first tournament in 2023 in Buenos Aires (February 13 to 19). So it's only logical that the 19-year-old trained on sand on Friday. The reigning US Open winner will face competition in the Argentine capital from Cameron Norrie and Dominic Thiem, among others.

It is not yet clear whether Alcaraz will start the tournament in Buenos Aires as the world number one. Both Stefanos Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic could dethrone the teenager with a triumph at the Australian Open.
