The French and US Open finalist is the third player alongside Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz to start at the unofficial World Cup in Italy.

The ATP Finals will take place from November 13th to 20th, 2022.

For Ruud it is the second participation. "I had such a good time last year, Italy is a wonderful country when it comes to tennis," said Ruud after his opening win in Seoul over Nicolas Jarry (6-2, 3-6, 6-3). Ruud is top seed here. He now meets Yoshihito Nishioka.

In the current world rankings, Ruud is in second place, behind Carlos Alcaraz.

Last year he reached the semi-finals in Turin, where he lost to eventual winner Daniil Medvedev.
